Methods We surveyed program directors of pediatric residency programs (Appendix 1;
available at www. jpeds. com). We aimed to describe the landscape of physician-scientist
training during residency relating to approaches, mechanisms of support, curricula, tracked
outcomes, and perceived barriers. Through an iterative process within the National Pediatric
Scientist Collaborative Workgroup, we derived 26 question stems in 4 domains:
demographics, curricula, support, and funding (Appendix 1).
